The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of Scotland’s most symbolic events. As we’ve covered in our Edinburgh tourist guide it’s set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, and more than 12 million people have experienced this spectacular event since 1950.

Until December 2009 Homecoming Scotland 2009 is giving you the opportunity to find out about you Scottish ancestors and where they come from. ScotlandsPeople Centre is Scotland’s new national family history centre which provides access to millions of documents from the 16th century, including birth, death and marriage registers.
In 2009 a rolling programme of exhibitions will demonstrate the power of this resource when illustrating the results of genealogical research into the family history of six famous Scots.
