Getting into Edinburgh and local travel

Lothian Buses operates over 50 bus services in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Midlothian and East Lothian. The company also operates 10 Night Bus routes giving 24-hour service provision to many parts of the city.

Distance travel

Edinburgh's bus station is situated in the east end of the city centre on St Andrews Street, between George Street and the St James Centre. It is located beneath the ground which is why there is no apparent bus or coach activity nearby. There are escalators to take you down to the busses below.

Note that the coaches that do set off from the bus station tend to be long distance coaches rather than the local tour coaches.

A taxi rank and drop off/pick up area with parking for up to two hours is available in North St Andrew Street.
